The Bethesda difference

What This Chapter Adds

National membership opens the library. The chapter is what makes it personal — the people you work with week after week, close to home.

Programming in your own backyard

Webinars, panel conversations, and networking evenings run across the Bethesda and Washington, D.C. area, so a meeting can be an after-work walk rather than another flight.

Complimentary professional development

Through the chapter's partnership with the American Management Association, members and government employees gain access to additional professional development opportunities at no cost.

Rooms full of both sides of the table

Contracting officers, program managers, small business owners, and industry teams share the same table — the quickest way to learn how the other side actually works.

A path to leading

Chapters run on volunteers. Hosting an event, welcoming newcomers, judging a panel, or joining the board are all ways to build a leadership record that travels with your career.

Questions About Joining

Does joining the chapter cost extra?+

No. You pay one NCMA membership, and dues are handled by NCMA National. When you join or renew, pick MD - Bethesda from the chapter list and your membership belongs to this chapter at no additional charge.

I already belong to NCMA. How do I make sure I'm with Bethesda?+

Sign in to your ncmahq.org profile and update your chapter to MD - Bethesda, or renew and choose it from the chapter list. If you cannot see the option, write to NCMA member services and they will move you.

Am I eligible if I am not a contracting officer?+

Yes. Members include program managers, business development professionals, small business owners, procurement and legal staff, students, and others whose work touches contract management.

Do students really join free?+

NCMA's student rate is $0 a year for full-time students at an accredited, degree-granting institution who do not hold full-time work in the field. A .edu email address is needed to qualify, and the student rate runs for up to four years.

What if I just want to come to one event first?+

That is a perfectly good way to start. Several events are open to the public through Eventbrite; come along, introduce yourself, and decide about membership afterwards.

Who do I ask about chapter membership?+

Anything about the chapter — events, volunteering, speaking, or what members get locally — goes to ncmabethesdachapter@gmail.com. Billing and account questions belong with NCMA member services at memberservices@ncmahq.org or 1-800-344-8096.
